Karys Goes to Kindergarten
on April 29th, Karys got the chance to go and check out Kindergarten for the morning. It was a swap out because Gracie got the day off from school so the incoming Kindergarteners could come and check things out for the day. Karys thought she was quite lucky to even get Mrs. Aalbers as a teacher (Gracie's teacher this past year). She has had her for both the visitation day and the pre-screening that they also do for incoming students. I think she thinks that means that Mrs. Aalbers will be her teacher for next year...just to prepare her, we are trying to let her know how AWESOME all 4 of the teacher options are!
This has been a decision that we have really prayed about--sending Karys to Kindergarten next year--because she only makes the cutoff by 11 days. We have done screenings as well as sought advice from her preschool teacher and an incoming K teacher. Everyone has encouraged us to send her as she just seems so ready...I have a peace about that and feel like it really is a GREAT option! She is always trying to keep up with her big sister, she is outgoing, and she is aggressive. I would rather give her the chance to use those things than placing her in a situation where she may at times feel as if she is not challenged enough or given the chance to realize that she is ahead of those around her. Karys is our strong willed, full of energy bundle of JOY! I feel that God will grow her so much through this and that she will hopefully come to be able to direct that energy and will in a direction that will take her very far ;)
I still have the voice mail that she left me that morning when she got home! She is SOOOO excited for Kindergarten and or course, like most kiddos, she loved RECESS best ;)
